well.. that might work..

but if you really want to have fun..

find a 76 or earlier full size caddy...  71 thru 76...

rip the 429, 472 or 500 motor and TH400 transmission out..

i have seen these installed back in the 80s in an afternoon..

talk about torque.. and the 472/500 motors weigh less than a small block chevy...

with the proper adaptors to go from the rectangular port caddy heads to the squared off port big block chevy headers..  you can use big block chevy headers..

or just the caddy factory exhaust manifolds..

at this date in time...

i would for sure put in a new water pump... use a big bearing splitter and 10 ton bar puller ..  and pull the front hub from Behind it.. do not try to use the 4 tiny bolts..   then drop in a new timing chain.. this is a LOT easier with the caddy engine out.. drop some fresh freeze plugs also..

i am not telling you to not install the 440 .. it just seems like a lot of trouble when a 472/500 caddy with a th400 is almost a drop in..  especially when mopar madmen pay premiums for 440 motors and transmissions.

The 440 is wide and chances won’t fit. Forget any exhaust or steering. The oil pan is completely different. Not saying it can't be done... Then there is the builds cost nearly twice as much as a Chevy builds.....

you can use a truck pan from a 71-78 d-100 that had a 440 in it
