Just bought a '54 3100 5-Window with a Mustang II Power Rack.
Any tech tips on setting up with a GM SBC PS Pump?

with the mustang II rack.. most GM power steering pumps have TOO MUCH FLOW...
easily fixed.... the 1" nut on the back of the pump where the pressure hose hooks up to can be changed to one with a significantly smaller opening in the center... this reduces the flow so the rack is not so twitchy and overpowered feeling while driving...
several aftermarket manufacturers sell the proper outlet device you may end up needing to match that manufacturers fitting size...
speedway sells a 2 gallon a minute version that still uses the inverted flair fitting so conventional non metric power steering hoses fit..

reducing the amount of fluid through the hoses does NOT effect the pump in any way... most of the fluid flow created by the pump bypasses right back into the reservoir anyway.
as long as this is done by the fitting threaded into the pump... if somebody attempts to reduce flow by installing a restrictor in the hose... you will be restricting the pressurized flow of the pump and raise the temp of the fluid... i know it sounds strange.. but thats the way its designed...
there are also several different displacement GM power steering pumps... pumps that came with cars and trucks with hydro boost brakes are usually the largest displacement.. as far as i know.. all of them have too much flow for the M II racks... so a restricted outlet port is needed..
