Hi,
I am doing over a 56 chevy truck and replaced the 235 six with a 265 eight cylinder.
Reinstalled the steering column and tried to install the shift box on the column and the exhaust manifold is in the way of the shift linkage.
Anyone have any info on this.
I'm sure someone out there has run into this before.
Thanks,
Dave

Hey Dave!  What kind of manifolds are you using? You might have to try some underslung manifolds from a 70's vintage 350 to gain clearance for the linkage, or possibly some blockhugger headers. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box to come up for solutions. Is this the same truck that you got the bellhousing for a few years ago?  Good Luck! Smurf from Ohio

Hi Smurf,
Yep, same truck.
I'm slow as a turtle.
I found a column shifter box from "Bills Truck Shop" in Toronto.
He says the arms come out of the shifter box at different angles and should do fine.
The part should arrive first of the week and I'll let you know how I make out.
I'm using original rams horn manifolds and I like the original look.
I know you don't like e-mail but if you have an e-mail address I can send you a few pics of my project.
I'm hoping to have the cab painted this summerish and the box through the winter.
How did you make out with the HHR?
Good to hear from you.
Later,
Dave
