I have a 1954 Dodge 1/2 ton.  I installed a 360, but now the steering box won't fit in the original location on the frame-rail.  I've never restored or customized a vehicle before, so I am at a loss as to how I can get this truck to steer.  Any pointers would be appreciated!  It has the original solid front axle, and the steering linkage is located at the rear of the axle.  If I were to remove the exhaust manifold on the driver's side, I think I can get the steering box to fit, but then I would have to have custom headers built that run on the outside of the frame rails to clear the steering box.  Has anybody ever restored one of these trucks and have encountered and solved this problem?

I'll put some pictures up in a day or so.  I had a good look at it since I had some free time today, and the snow was off of it.  If I take the knuckles off, and swap them side to side, then the drag link will be on the front of the axle, and I can mount the steering box in front of the engine and it will fit.  As soon as I get some more free time, I'm going to try this.
