I have an origanal 74 f100 with a 360 3 speed auto. My wiring harness completely fried and I'm looking for a complete bumper to bumper kit for my truck on a tight budget. I've looked at a lot of websites for harness but now I'm just more confused!! Any direction would be so helpful if anyone has already gone through this or is skilled in this area.

For piece of mind and ease of install I would recommend Painless performance products. I have used their products and they are great. Not the cheapest by far but when it comes to wiring this is the only way to go.(No im not a painless rep)

If your keeping it original stay with the factory item. The painless system is a overkill and will leave you with more work than you expect and will leave you with circuits you will not use.Plus when you blow a circuit you will take out more than you expect. If you have no experience with electrical wiring it is best not to take it on, yes the wires are marked and it is meant to be stupid proof but certain circuits are not compatible to some factory switches.
   Thats my 2 cents worth

I used Painless on my 53 F-100 and never had any problems.

It's an easy as a vw , pull it apart. start at rear work your forward. It's all about looking , making notes, and buy some wire. Or go to the boneyard. Mikevw

I don't know if you have bought a harness yet or not, but I went with Painless on my 53 F-100. True I did have circuits left over, but it couldn't get any easier than Painless. Every wire is printed on it every 6 inches where it's suppose to go. If you want a one wire at a time Ron Frances wiring would do great.Oh yeah. I had circuits left over because I wanted to add stuff later. Like Power mirrors, Third break light, Power windows and on and on. I bought the 18 circuit kit.
