The July issue of CCT has an article on chopping a top of a 57 Chevy Big Window truck. The issue of glass replacement is not covered. I followed the articles instructions to the letter and now I'm concerned about finding a rear window!!! I don't think grinding the windshield down will be too much of a problem, but the rear glass is tempered and would shatter if cutting is attempted. I chopped this truck 1.5 inches and was very careful to NOT bend the A or B pillars, so the openings are shorter, but not changed in shape whatsoever. Now, what to do about the rear glass?????

I'd go to a local auto glass shop and see what advice they can offer . Good luck .

Carmen is working on the glass story as we speak. I'm not sure which issue it will appear in, but it's coming. The glass was a major consideration when the chop was done, so people wouldn't end up with a chopped-top and not able to make glass for it.
