Recently bought '71 C10.  I am about to pull the asthmatic 350 and TH350 trans for mild rebuild. Rear end appears to be a 12-bolt open (non-posi) GM truck rearend with 2.56/2.73 gears, rear suspension is coil springs.  I would like to convert to posi with 3.55-3.73 gears. I am reading that the truck rear isn't the best candidate, would be expensive, and I'm on a budget. Are there any GM candidates for a direct bolt-in swap on this truck?  Would not need to be bullet-proof, as the motor will probably be 300hp or so, street driven only.   Thanks, roomor

It would not be any more xpensive than replacing it with another truck rearend `67 to `72  ( same width )get one from a stick, check to see if its posi,  or 64 to 66 are one inch narrower but were 6 lug, they changed to 5 lug I think in `71
