I have a 1947 Dodge PU that I am attempting to cutomize. I would like to lower the front end. I kow I can purchase an IFS from fatman or any of the other front end manufacturers however I would prefer to do this one on the cheap and 2 using parts from other vehicles already out there. I was originally looking for a drop straight axle which does not seem to exist for PUs not at the length of 49" my second though was to use a front end out of either a mustang, or a camaro. If i decide to go down this path is there anything i should look for in the front end? what motor it was orginally designed for, bolt pattern etc... those are the only 2 things I can think of and since the motor is going to be a 360 and I would prefer a 5 bolt patter it leaves me wide open to a ton of donor cars for the front end. Any suggestions would be welcome

A good place to get answers to your questions would be www.jalopyjournal.com , a site for old cars , old trucks , and hot rods of every description . Also check out www.dodgetalk.com ! Good luck !
