My 17 year old and son and I have started a 57 3200 stepside project. I want to replace the front suspension and would like to hear from guys who have gone the mustang II crossmember route instead of the more costly super ride from Heidt's. We're trying to keep costs down but don't want to compromise handling and safety. Custom built 350 with 350 HP going in with an 700R4 and 355 rear end. Thanks

Problem with the mustang II front is the availability of a second hand front, you'll end up buying it all new anyway which really puts it in the ball park of other aftermarket fronts. Also other fronts may give you a greater option of adjustment which can help drastically in the handling. Shock and coil over combinations can be restricting due to the fine tuning.

I'm thinking you meant a Mustang II type frontend as opposed to junk off a wrecked Mustang II. The Heidt's is a great frontend, but you'd do just as well with a Fatman Fabrications, or a Total Cost Involved Mustang II. Other good brands are No-Limit and Jim Meyer Racing, or anything from Art Morrison. CPP has numerous good brake upgrades as well.

Thanks for the info. I have looked at a Heidt's mustang II complete package that's pushing $1800. The super ride is $2500. My original front end just needs a brake conversion and I'm not looking at this as a daily driver. To totally reaplce both sides plus brakes is the cost of a Mustang II packahe however.FYI I've priced everything new on this truck bumper to bumper and I'm in the $30k range. Might as well do it right the first time.
