Can anybody tell me the location of the VIN# besides the left side door. The previous owner painted the truck 15 20 years ago and painted over the VIN# tag, now I can't remove the paint off the tag nor read the VIN#. Is there another location. The truck has the original eng 235 6cyl, tranny 3 speed, and chassi.

I know that on 1958 and 1959 3100 it is on the top of frame on the left hand side by the steering box just little in front of it and also under the cab on top of the frame rail by the cab mount this is very hard to see with the cab on . It should be the same on your 55 as far as I know hope this helps.
I looking for 1958 1959 viking or spratan fornt sheet metal if you have any leads that mit help find some please let me know Thanks Scott Keyman4885@yahoo.com

Actually the tag should be on the left hand side windshield pillar and on the top of the chassis rail arround the firewall on the left side.
