I've got a '66 F-100, the only truck (or vehicle, really) I've ever had since I was 16.  She's starting to get tired and the cosmetic fixes I can do mask a greater need:  she needs to be restored.  Though I wish I had the technical and mechanical ability to do it myself, I sadly don't.

Her general condition is decent... I had the engine overhauled 50,000 miles ago and she purrs like a kitten.  The body itself has a few rust spots in the normal places but is relatively clean for a 43 year old vehicle.  The wiring is ok but it's getting old and should be replaced.  Cables are in mixed shape... for instance, the speedometer and temperature readings are gone.  There are other cosmetic fixes that are needed too (door handles are cracking, same with dash, window seals are cracking, etc).

Can y'all make any recommendations on trustworthy folks that can give an estimate on what it'd take to spruce her back up?  If I don't go custom and stick to vintage or its modern look-a-like, how much should I budget?  She's in Kentucky now but I'm planning on moving to Virginia next fall.

Thanks.

We have some forum members that are shop owners and do pretty good work. Some of their trucks are in the features section. Don't be shy you guys get a hold of this fella and see you can help him out.

Big Red also, checkout www.fordtruk.com They're called Slick Sixties and are a great bunch of guys dedicated to 61-66 Ford trucks.

Real tough to estimate as there are way to many variables to figure. As all estimates the figures are ballpark at best.Wiring entire truck $2000.00 plus hard parts such as gauges, switches.Window seals and weatherstripping parts included with labor
$1200.00.As far as chrome goes pick up one of the specialty parts catalogs.Labor to R&I trim and chrome is usually inc in estimate when doing an over all refinish.Paint and body depends on just how nice you want to get with the project.Nice "driver" with minor body damage and rust usually runs about $7500.00.This will "jamb" in panels but no tear down of sheet metal.Double this price and you can get a very nice job that can even win you a few awards at the local shows.Full show car trailer queen work starts at $30,000.00.As far as your project with cosmetics and mechanicals you can figure on spending between 10 to 15 grand to do it right and make a dependable good looking truck that will run for years to come. Now if want to do a full custom ride the sky is the limit.Just double all figures above.....
