I would like to suggest to the powers that be at CTT to consider showing more real world trucks , not so many high dollar , pro shop built trucks . Show trucks are very nice but not very practical .There is a segment of your readers that are " turned-off " by the " laying frame ,chrome laden Dubs " so often featured in your magazine . Not meaning to be so critical but " the truth shall set you free " ! I'll now await the sure-to-be -criticized responses from far and wide !

Funny you should write. We just ended a 6-month in-depth study and learned that 96 percent of the trucks featured in CCT have been built at home by their owner or a close relative. 99.3 percent have 15-inch non Dub type wheels with either BF Goodrich or Sam Winston tires. I invite you to cite a specific example of a truck you think was pro-built and I will personally launch an ivestigation into the matter and determinine if in fact the truck was home built or pro-built.

Thank you,

John Gilbert, Editor

Okay now I have to admit that I cheated and made up all of those facts. That said, the truth is (based on an educated guess) 90 percent in of the trucks in CCT really are home built, and surprisingly a large majority of the owners tear into the hardcore stuff like body and paint.

I think maybe you must have been looking at the latest issue of Truckin'. (watch now I'm going to get a pissed-off letter from my buddy Bob Ryder, Truckin's senior tech editor).

John , the truth is I never buy or even look at the " Truckin' " magazine mainly for the reason I stated in my original post . Also , I'm a fan ( and owner ) of old trucks and I know they are occasionally featured in that mag but it mainly concentrates on newer vehicles . You would have to say my thoughts ( in original post ) would definitely apply to the vehicles in Truckin' ! I'd have to say the single biggest difference in the Truckin' magazine  and Minitrucks magazine is the size of the trucks featured in them . Otherwise , they mirror each other . Also , I think the Truckin' magazine is essentially a sales catalog for their many advertisers  and a few truck pictures are thrown in to justify the cost of the magazine .Again , I brace for the many sure -to-come disagreements sure to follow .

I hope not, but I think because I jumped in right away with a response no else is voicing their opinion. I'd really like to hear one way or the other what some of you other guys think. All I ask is please keep it friendly. Although I realize as the  editor  of CCT I am in the hot seat, so it's okay to call me a moronic idiot, and I won't take it personally... but please don't call anyone else names... Thanks.

John , other than what you labeled yourself , I haven't heard anyone call anyone anything ? Hopefully I didn't say anything you considered " unfriendly " , if so I apologize ! I was just stating my opinion of CTT and , to some extent, CT as well .I am a subscriber to both magazines . Those two magazines come closer to what I want than any other ones on the market . But they aren't perfect and I told you my opinion as to why I think they aren't ! I could have pointed out how many redundant articles the two share but I didn't . I wasn't trying to insult you , any of your colleagues  or any of your readers ! " Constructive criticism is good for the soul " or at least , that's what they say ! Now let me get down off my soapbox and I'll shut up !

No, everything is cool. I've seen things get a little ugly on some forums and I didn't want it to start here. To tell you the truth though I don't think we're going to hear from anyone else on this.

No one was insulted, and stick around it was good to hear your input.
