Hi, I thought I'd get some advice from some real rodders about my front end.  I have a dropped axle, probably dropped 3 or 4 inches on my 41 truck.   I'm restoring it and then will sell.  The question is which would be more desireable to have?  I am thinking about putting bags on it and the current axle will not support the bags.  Also the front end does have power steering and drives great.  The only real reason I would change is so I can install the bags, the front end needs some work to be up to par, and is not very pretty.  Some really like the "charm" of a straight axle, but maybe bags will be better.  Your help is needed!  Thanks!Montana John 1941D

Your '41 looks great, I don't see the sense of changing the frontend if you are going to sell it. The truck is more desirable as is. The next guy will do what he wants to it. You are only going to lose money if invest more just to sell. I think maybe have been watching too many of those HGTV shows where they fix up a house and then cut a fat hog.

If you are happy with it now I would leave it alone.Cost of upgrade verses return on investment may not make it worth doing. If you must change it I would go with the drop axle/4 link and coilover shocks.Do the same to the back and ride will be improved greatly.Air bags are for mini-trucks....and they really don't make the truck ride that much better considering what they cost.

It's up to you, but if your looking for opinions let it be. The truck looks great the way it sits now, although your choice of wheels and tires leaves a lot to be desired.

Its funny you bring up the HGTV network; my wife is hooked on those shows and now has the idea of redoing the house. Those networks are dangerous for married men.

Yeh certainly does look good, but that's no good if it rides like s................t. Put in an independant, then you will have the best of both worlds. Oh and yeah, the wheels need to go. Hey blame FASTDADDY he opened his mouth first
Anyway whose me to tell you from an old decrepit Rodder.

Well look who came out of the woodwork. Remember you weren't suppose to leave the garage until the truck is finished. Have you done the groceries yet and get those airbags of the truck. Some decrepid old men do run airbags, well atleast on the back as helpers for the excess weight of the tools.

Hey Specialist! I picked the lock and got out for some air. My 47GMC is done and on the road. Now I gotta build some stuff for customers [not old men, I don't do bags], so I can finance my next project. Those GHETTO wheels and airbags, hydraulics also are three things that will never come out of my shop. I don't likem' and won't install them. Everybody's entitled to an opinion, and I'm stickin to mine

Yep, I'm with you there on voicing your opinion, I think it gives people a chance to look at what people do so they can decide for themselves.
As for my trucks, there're stripped down to bare shells, waiting for shipping to the land down under. What doesn't leave will get built here.
As for the bags, I run them when needed, the work vehicle took such a beating with all the tools and equitment, that I had to put some helper bags in and my Starsky & Hutch had such wide wheels on the back I replaced the srings with a set of 5000lb bags. Now I would never kick the ass end of a vehicle up in the air but when it comes to this paricular vehicle, it was so well known for that such thing, then again I did dump a 460 in it.
Anyone.....focus son.......focus........back to the trucks........this is a truck forum not a S&H,Smokey & the Bandit, Dukes of Hazzard or Mad Max site. WHOOPS...........gave up my real identity.
