I'm working on a 1940 1 1/2 Ford Stake Truck. I'm looking for replacement fenders. I can not seem to find any one that does replacememtn fenders in either steel or fiberglass. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Pick up parts are every where. I need parts for the big truck. Thanks in advance
Well I'll guess I'll give you a reply and give you some ideas. I am playing with the larger trucks myself, a 47. mine is a snubnose. Not sure what style yours is. You will find parts are hard,You will have to search through many sights related to that model,I have slowly built up a list of relative builders for my model, you will be amazed what you will find, alot of forums have parts for sale sections. There is many hours of searching, welcome to the life of customising.I found a guy who sells a fibreglass nosecone for a 38.I had to buy a few cabs to get a good collection of clean parts.
Hi John!I'm Bill and I'm in the same boat as you are Pal. I've got a '40 one-ton express that I'm working on and have experienced the same frustration - plenty of parts for the 1/2 ton, not much for the big trucks - except those parts that are shared with the pick-up. There's even seems to be more reproduction parts for the COE out there (I guess that's what the last fellow who responded refers to as "snub nose"; Nice truck, very different, and deserves to be called what it is. Give me your email address, so we can correspond off this forum - maybe we can help each other out looking for parts that we need. I'm in North Carolina. Look forward to hearing from you.
My grandfather has what I believe is a 1.5 ton Ford 1940. He is looking to get rid of it. It is in fair condition and has the original flathead v8 with a grain box. We are located in Southern Co. If you guys could lend a little info on what some unrestored prices (I know that there are a million variables on price) or range of prices, I would be very grateful....Kenny I can be e-mailed at firstname.lastname@example.org
Hi Bill just got a 1940 1 ton express just looking for some help? do i sell it or fix it? Tyler
The good news is everything but the hood, grille and front fenders are the same from 40-47. this includes the 1/2 tons and 1 ton and up which is different for the 40-41's, the 42-47 just the front fenders are different. I have seen several front end parts advertised in Hemmings and at the Portland and Charlotte swap meets.
I guess it sounds like the 1 1/2 ton is a half cast between the 1/2 tons and the COE (snubby). I atleast know the snubnose has a larger cab, different doors and frontend. In the later Fords and Chevys they had different fenders with larger wheel arches to accomadate the larger wheels. The chevs used the same hoods. So I guess it will be interesting if someone could post a photo.
