73-79 disc brake spindles

does anyone know if the discbrake spindles from a 73-79 2 wheel drive will interchange with 67-72 c10 thanks  

I have done it to my trucks, you will probably have to change the ball joints to suit the later truck. The tie rod ends are a different size. But check the upper and lower ball joints also, it has been a while since I have done it. Just also for you reference check the height of the spindle in reference to the original and also the position of the steering arm off the disc. If it is different the truck may change in height. As I said it has been a while because part of me thinks the truck did get lower. Just check this just in case. I have played with these a lot in the past. Also is it a 6 lug or a 5 ?  

all 67 are 6 lug the 73-79 2 wheel drive are all 5 lug  

Any idea why then switched from 6 lug to 5 lug on the 73-79 trucks? Why not keep it 6 lug like the newer makes?  

Well Mr. Payne since you asked. the 5 on 5 bolt pattern was used from 1973 -1999 first series. By eliminating four lug nuts and four studs per wheel General Motors was able to save over 46 billion dollars. Unfortunately the money was used to buy TV advertising for the Super Bowl and now the cash is all gone.  

Wow I must be getting tired (and goofy)I meant to say per truck, dang it. That's it I'm driving home in my '05 GMC with four extra lug nuts... Later.

Mike, to answer your question a little better than I did yesterday. A good selection of 6-lug wheel designs are a real pain to find, whereas the 5 on 5 is the easiest wheel in the world to come by. Okay now its time to jump in my '65 F-250 with the 8-lug wheels and motor off into the cold wet oblivion of Southern California on a freezing ass 68-degree night... That's cold when all of the duct tape and trash bag windows have blown off.

 Well this is the way it goes. Yes all i/2 ton 67 were 6 lug. but you haven't told us what year you have, you said 67-72, well 71 and 72 had 5 stud, naturally you can use them with no problem. But I presume you picked up some spindels and disc from a later truck because they are cheap and readily available. So really it makes no different what you had but what you want, which is what I replied to earlier. That means you also will have to change the back too.
 As for Mr Gilbert and Mr Payne, I think the Turkey dinners has effected your focus. I guess I don;t feel so bad about my 58 Chevy story.   Ho  Ho  

Late '71 with disc brakes, If a person wants to get picky. Okay, now back to the guy's question. I'm not sure about the spindles, but the control arms from '73-87 all interchange. Screwing around answering these questions always a shot in the dark. The subject of whether we are talking about stock or dropped, never came up. Detailed questions, get better answers.  

I'm with you there John on the detailed questions, I got a little confused on some of the replys. As for the lowering thing that probably was my fault. Since it has been a while since I converted to disc on that year, I couldn't quite remember whether the spindle on the earlier truck had the axle at a different height than the later, hence if it did the truck may drop in height.
 I guess we come back to the same thing, you try to give the person all the possible problems you can come across and try to read into his question.
