Does anyone have any information as to how many of the 3804 1 ton pickups were produced? I recently purchased a 1 ton custom cab pickup, model 3804 and am not finding much information on them. Can anyone help? TIA
Can you post your VIN # and maybe one of our post members could help you out.
go to www.lmc.com . this site tells you exactle how to de code the vin tag for your truck.it is real easy to read the tag you just need to read the first few pages of the site and you will have your production #.as for total production of that truck ill get back to you.chris. @inthenorth
The Vin on my truck is L255O008505. Doing a Vin break down it tells me it is a model 3804 produced in CA. I called GM (Chevrolet) about the Restoration Pak and unfortunately, they don't have one for my truck. They also provided me with numbers to a company called Vintage and again, they couldn't help me and could only tell me that Chevrolet had lost all that information years ago. I was hoping that someone had information dealing with the particular models and an approximate number of each produced. Thanks
I tried the site but it comes up to something other than old trucks... thanks for the tip. I did a copy and past so that I didn't do a miss type on the url... Thanks
My Vin is L255O008505... thanks
The only numbers for a '55 Chevy truck that I have are for Cameo Carriers, which was around 5,500. Your truck was pretty common back in the day for commercial use. I'd bet a case of pre-fabricated tacos that GM built 40,000 Chevy and GMC 3804 series trucks.
John, thanks very mucy for the info. I know my truck was a custom order and I have seen many of the 1 tons with the small back window but can't ever recall seeing one with the big back window (Custom Cab) and I honestly didn't have any idea as to how many GM even produced in 55...
Actually you would be surprised at how many Big-Windows are in larger trucks. A lot were tow-trucks, and the privateers usually loaded them up with options like V8 and Custom Cab, etc.
I wonder how many are still road worthy? We had a 56 2 ton years ago and I have owned a couple of 55, 56 and 57 1/2 ton pickups but had never seen a 1 ton pickup. I'm not a spring chicken any more either...
i have a 1 - ton late body 55 chevy truckit came with heavy duty leafsprings and the 18" wheel package but not custom cab.i reciently aquired a custom cab parts truck for 500 bucks but i sold all the pieces i didnt need.fortunately i have 2 sets of 3800 emblems because i cant find anyone who reproduces those anymore.
I think I have 3 sets besides the ones on my truck... I have lot's of spare parts... I have not been able to come across anyone, my age, younger or older who has ever seen a 1 ton pickup... everyone remembers lot's of 1 ton's but not the pickups. Still not finding much about them...
You might have a super rare 1 ton there mwood.
HiI have had a look through the standard catalogue of chevy trucks and the production figures for the 1 ton are not listed specifically but in 55 Chevrolet produced 329,791 commercials in the 1/2 3/4 and 1 ton range. 64,589 were 3/4 or 1 ton (3500, 3600, 3700 3800 range) but I can't break it down more than that.the price of the 3804 pick up new was $1844 new.Good luck in your searchSteve
