I am wanting to swap my 5in x 5lug axels to a 5.5in x 6lug. My rear end is out of a mid 70's pick up. I wanted to know if anyone has done this before or know what axels (which year of pick up) i should order. Thanks in Advance!!

Are you sure you want to get rid of the 5 on 5, the easiest size in the world to find wheels for and get an oddball 6-lug pattern you can hardly find anything for?

i am looking for the 6lug x 5.5in pattern because most of the beadlock 17in wheels are avail in the 6 lug pattern. i have been told the 68 chevy pickup came with a 6 lug setup on them but i havn't been able to confirm it yet. Does anyone know for sure?

Break-down rims, yikes. '66 Chevy and GMC down to way back for sure. Off the top of my head I forget about '67-72, it's an easy question though. 73- 98 5 on 5 and then 99 up back to 6-lug.

Thanks for the info. Ya am building a 98 chevy 1500 2wd prerunner/offroad race truck. And the rear end i am using is a mid 70's because it is 1.5in wider perside compared to the stock rearend. i was having trouble trying to locate axels that will work with my application. But hopefully with the info you have given me i will be able to get it handled. Thanks!!!
