I inherited a 1966 Ford, 1/2 ton, F100Y, 8 cyl truck. I have been told it is rare because it has tool box? compartments on the outside body of the truck behind the doors. I cant find anything on the web about F100's with this feature. What are the compartments for?, what are they called?, and since the truck has these compartments does the truck have a different name than just F100Y. Does anyone know of any web sites dedicated to this particular model? Any information would be helpful.

If your '66 F-100 is a shortbed Styleside with a toolbox that is kind of rare. On a Custom Camper longbed it was very common to have a toolbox. So, is your '66 a shortbed? Check out www.fordtruk.com and tell them I sent you. Slick Sixties is dedicated to these trucks, and a great bunch of guys.

I believe it is the custom camper longbed. I have been checking out www.fordtruk.com. It's getting me pumped up to start restoration. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like you have an F-250. If you can post some pics of it on our reader's rides section. Keep us posted on your progress.
Thanks,
