Time is drawing near for the 3rd Annual Greg Welch Memorial Charity Car Show. This event will take place on October 18th , 2008 at the Habersham County Fair Grounds in Clarkesville, Georgia.

The show this year will again be benefitting the Toys for Tots charity. This organization is founded by the United States Marines to provide toys for children that would otherwise not have anything for Christmas. This show gives us all the opportunity to reflect some of our own prosperity and good fortune, while providing the mechanism to give a little back to the community. It is also a chance for us to say “Thank You” face to face to the men and women of the USMC.

As the name of the show reads, this is a show in memory of Greg Welch. There are many of you that knew Greg personally or knew of him through the show circuit. For those of you who did not have the opportunity of meeting or hearing about Greg, here is a small bit of information on why we are putting on a show every year to honor him. Greg was a man who cared about many people. He was a wonderful husband and a wonderful father. Greg touched many lives in the short 3 years of his competition career. Greg started competing in August 2001 and competed at the last show of his career in Nov 2004. He spent most of the 2005 competition year traveling to help other competitors better their rides. Greg had 4 main sponsors in his short career. He was very loyal to his sponsors. He promoted his sponsors to everyone he spoke to, whether it was a fellow competitor or just someone around town that he knew. Greg lived to help others. He was not happy unless he was helping someone out in some way. He also loved kids dearly. If there was a child around anywhere, he was befriending them. This is the reason for our charity choice being Toys for Tots.

This year’s show will include all automotive and sound elements at one location. It will include a variety of classes ranging form classics to mini trucks, from motorcycles to sound competition and much more. We welcome vendors of any kind to join in our fun this year. We would love to estimate the number of spectators however, we are unable to do that due to the great response we have already started to receive.
