in a 1986 silverado 1500 and a engine from a 1971 C10 (350)
the 700r4 is from a 1987 silverado
when i tighten the flyweel it unseats the torue converter

Something is sticking out too far and pushing it out. Look for unusual metal to metal contact. A 700-R4 should go onto an earlier 350 without a snag. Bolts might be too long.
