I put a 2.5 inch spindel lowered 72 Chevy truck front end on a 63 Chevy truck frame. I found an extra beefy front sway bar on a later model chevy at a junk yard that I am trying to install. I bought after-market frame mounts that drop down 3 inches on the deep side but I still have to put a jack under the sway bar and lift it 4 to 5 inches to get it to the frame mount. I can bolt it up but it puts tremendous strain on the rubber in the brackets. You can see the rubber being pushed out of shape where the pressure is. Stock installs are not under this much pressure. Is it OK to go ahead and mount it or do I need to find a different sway bar that has a better upward bend? Thanks

CPP has a complete lowered sway-bar kit for C-10s. The tech story ran almost 2-years ago, it might be archived on here.

CPP toll-free is at 800-830-0952. I think a front or rear CPP C-10 sway-bar kit runs around $119.

I had the same issue on my lowered 78. Installed the way hellwig instructions said, it bound up the bushings at the control arms. So I flipped over (the ends are slightly bent) and it fit great! If your bar is bent at the ends, try that.

Yeah, you can flip it, but the problem of crashing the front sway-bar mounts still exists. The point of the CPP lowered sway-bar kit is that it tucks the sway-bar up closer to the frame, and doesn't hit everytime one approaches a tiny bump in the road.

I've used the cpp drop sway bar kit in the past and it does work well. But flipping it worked well for my sway bar on my current truck, and it still sits higher than th cross member does. Does john gilbert work for cpp by chance?

Nope, I'm the editor of Custom Classic Trucks. If there was another brand that worked better at serving this purpose I would have mentioned it. Can you name another brand that was designed specifically to work on a lowered C-10?
