OK i have a 1953 dodge it is a b-4. I am looking to do a body swap with another vehicle that is also two wheel drive. So my question is what is the best kind of vehicle to get for this kind of thing. If any one happens to have any wire diagrams for that year of a dodge or even a service manual or some thing of that nature.
Thank you. Eric

First let me welcome you to the forums, and secondly I really have no info to help with your question. Can anyone help Redneck with his question.

What's wrong with putting a Fatman frontend on your Dodge frame? It would a look a lot cleaner, and work better than plopping your Dodge on top of a who knows what.

I guess i just dont know where to go with it. I have had the truck for about 15 years. I have two of them so i have more then enough parts to make one out of the two. The truck is 3/4 ton with a in line 6 with a 6 volt system. I have changed the 6 volt generator system out to a 12 volt alternator sytem. I am looking to put a diesel mortor in it so i need a front end that is able to hold the weight of a big motor.

You know if its just going to be a "good 'ol truck" and not a Hot-Rod, why not just beef up the 3/4 ton springs which might be heavy enough already. Stiff shocks along with steering that's in good condition and you might be good to go.

Well, with an old Dodge you are kind of back to square 1 if you want those options unless you talk to Fatman Fabrications and go with their frontend which will give you disc brakes, and the option of power steering. I doubt anyone makes a disc conversion for your Dodge. An S-10, Camaro, or some kind of 9-inch Ford or 12-bolt will give you lots of disc brake options... What kind of diesel, a Cummins?

Eric. a good frame to swap yout body to is a chev s10 frame. EZ chassis swaps has a kit that works well for this. I just bought a 53 Dodge Pilot house half ton and am planning on doing this soon. look on the h.a.m.b under archives for s10 frame swaps. Hope this helps. Bud
