Very cool, I really want to see this truck. Can you give me the measurments of you dakota frame? Like how wide it is, the measurments of the cab mounts, the measurments of the engine bay.how high the frame is off the ground. It would really help me on what I want to try and do. moparman

hey Mike, the truck is looking awesome. My 53 project has stalled due to wifes surgery, but she is well enough now to get back on track. By the way, in one of the pix of the bed, there is a chopped Mopar in the background. It looks a lot like my Chopped 49 Plymouth. That was a fun project too. Buds Truck

Not much progress lately.Had a few other projects to get out of the way.(Basement at home is getting a remodel). Also at a standstill on engine as I may use a 440 instead of the 5.7 Hemi.Truck will have an old school look and not sure the late model Hemi will go with the theme.Would prefer an early Hemi but very expensive to do.Besides that I have the 440 to put in and ready to *** Mike

After much deliberation I have made a decision on engine. It will be the 440.Always have liked these engines and will give the truck a real Mopar feel.Am close to priming misc sheet metal and will post pics soon. Mike

As mentioned in earlier posts I have had a very busy summer and not been able to work on my 49 Dodge pickup.Since this project really needs to progress I have decided to let my 17 year old son help...I will be closely guiding him on this as he does know enough about body and paint but not enough to keep himself out of "trouble".Hopefully I can post update pics soon. good choice, Mike, I let my son cut his teeth on my 49 Plymouth, it turned out to be a great father/son project. Bud

I couln't see where it had been done throughout this thread, but did you trim the bottom off the front clip to match up to the sidestep reveal in the doors in order to lose the steps?
