a farmer down the road from me is selling an old 1952 Ford F5 6 wheel dump. it has a V8 flat head in it and needs some serious body work but not toally gone to hell. before i dive into another project i was just wondering what kind of reputation these trucks had and how accesable parts were?

I've never seen an old truck that I didn't like. Those F-series trucks were as good as anything else. Parts are pretty easy to come for the most part. If you want find out what hard-to-get is all about try buying an old International, or Stude.

Good for you, I'm sure you'll really get enthused when the old girl fires up. I've always wanted an old dump truck. I missed a '57 Chevy 1-ton dump for $700. about ten-years ago. The truck sat for ever on a small farm, one of the last here in Orange County, and then one day shortly after I saw the for sale sign everything was gone... Farm and all.
