I have a 1965 chevy c10 pick up. I just replaced the alternator and the voltage regulator and i am getting around 16.5 volts at the battery. I'm worried that too much voltage will ruin the new battery. Any ideas on what might be causing this problem?

14.5 - 14.9 volts maximum to the battery at full charge. Your volt-reg is set too high, change it to 14.5 or you will fry the battery.
