Hi, I have a '63 F-100 and I tried to get it running last spring, but the fuel was bad, so I have to clear out the tank and reinstall it... But in the process of getting it home I ruined a few parts, like the filter etc. I had taken out the old mechanical fuel pump and replaced it with an electric one. Now, when I was driving it the truck only went up to 55 mph. Someone at work told me they did the same thing with a '73 that had a new 360 in it, but they didn't know how to remedy it other than to put a mechanical one on, because aparantly the problem stemmed from hooking the power directly to the battery and only having a set flow rate via the voltage. How does one properly install an electric pump, i.e., how can I regulate it to feed more when I run at higher speeds, or, was that the problem in the first place? Any help is appreciated.

all you need is 4lbs. of fuel pressure to feed a carburetor. Check your line pressure, and if you have a contant 4lbs. its something else. I can't spend anymore time with you, but log onto www.fordtruk.com and maybe one of those guys will walk you through. Let me know how it goes.
