which is better to use power gear box or power rack & pinion form NO LIMITS. I still have the straight axle in the truck. I will be replacing the 288 v8 hydromatic with a LT1 engine and 4l60E.

If it were me and I was dropping an LT1 with a 4L60E tranny in, I would loose the straight axle and go to an IFS. Of course this still leaves you to choose rack or ball. We ran an article comparing rack & pinion versus a steering box in the November   '06 issue of Custom Classic Trucks... Don't tell me you're not a subscriber, lol.

I've never used No-Limits R&P setup, on one of my trucks. Bob Ryder my friend over at Truckin' did a story on one that ran in CCT and thought thet were pretty trick. I know first hand the Toyota setup has been used for the last 20 or so years and they work great. I don't how they compare price wise, but I did a story in CCT comparing both. Google Custom Classic Trucks Don't Get A Bum Steer by John Gilbert, and you'll find the story archived on our web. If you're still not sure — take the Toyota.
