Hello,
I´m Ingo from germany and i´m going to fit a custom ifs in my 56 f100 truck. My question is - which ifs is the best? I had a look at tci, heidts, nolimits, classicperform but i don´t know what ifs is to prefer? I hope someone can help me to decide.
Thank you

Which is best, is an opinion thing. As the editor of CCT I don't think I want to narrow it down to just one. These are all good choices, not failing to mention a Volare setup from Bob's F-100 Parts. That said, I welcome anyone else to voice their opinion to Ingo on the subject.
I did just buy a '56 F-100, and at some point I will drop the straight-axle in favor of an IFS.

Hello I'm in the same or I should say was. I have looked at all of the ones you have plus. The one I finely decided on is going to come from Zeg's. They are close to my home and offer a complete front and rear kit with air ride for less then the other's. The cost was the last item in picking witch one to go with.

if germany has the same crown vics like we do go get you a 03-later aluminum k member from a crown vic.you drill bout 6 holes in the frame and it bolts on and with u joints will allow you to connect a stock column to the rack and pinion will have to swap the bolt pattern down to 5x4.5.mine is mostly finished in my 61 and its a great easy ifs swap

i am building a 56 ford f100. i went for the jaguar series three, irs and ifs.
i think this is the best as it is from the same car and macthing front and rear plus the servo and brake pedal fit to, it is beefy and big block is no problem with xj12 springs.
plus i have bolted mine in like jag on rubber mounts to give a real nice drive more then happy to help with parts and swap.
four pot brakes 12 inch dish etc must be worth considering

The one from CPP is a TCI. For my 55 1st series p/u thats what everyone is suggesting....the mustang II from TCI.

I have the xj jag on my 55 chevy and the downfall is i cant customize it with aftermarket parts (rotors, brakes, etc.) I am stuck with stock Jag parts only. I'm thinking of getting the Mustang II for mine. The cost to rebuild the Jag (completely) is around 2K> So for that price I would rather put ins omething i can customize in the future, if needed.

The TCI is a real good unit. Go straight to TCI or CPP to buy one. CPP just came out with a super-neat big caliper setup for the Mustang II.

you say you can not get rotors well jag's do dilled and slotted one's for £115-00 the 12inch are plenty big. i wanted to go the mustang route but when the calipers were from gm and discs ford visur visur and when you look at how much extra they ant for the sway bar and a disc upgade it made me go for the jag stuff plus i felt more comfortable with the weight issue as the jag stuff is ideal for the half ton truck. for the front clip and the rear with power lock the servo and the pedal and the prop plus the steering shaft and some other bits i gave £300 that about$600 and it all is in good condtion there is no comparision to independent suspension. left hand steering rack came from jags to i never had any problems with parts and you know you can make a jag rear look cool. if you need any parts should you stay with the jag feel free to mail ,me on ford_f100@hotmail.co.uk cheers good luck

Hey f-this,
Thanks for the taking the time to do a follow-up. There was a time out here in SoCal, when the only rearend you would see under a cool street-rod was a Jag. Myself, I never had the bucks for a fully-polished, or chromed Jag. I've been running Junkyard (breakers) 9-inch Fords 12-bolt Chevys, and Buick and Olds rearends in my fleet since the late 60s. In other words, "whatever works."

Oh no, we were talking about IFS, huh? Don't know anything about a Jag IFS, except my '69 E-Type had one, got some Spax shocks and called it a day. I'm going out to Pomona for the 6/14/08 La Roadster show, see you guys later!
