What do you think of the current mix of trucks we are featuring? Is there any brand or year of truck you would like to see more of? Let us hear it.

Hi Nick,
I am a diehard 50's chevy fan but I am starting to also enjoy 60's chevs, fords and dodges. I also really like how you are including 'rat rod' pickups.

Thanks Ross, The "rat rod" debate could go on forever. As some people are offended by the term. I, myself dig the traditional look of "said rods", but there is a line between drivability, looks and style. Some, just like huge dollar builds go a bit too far. Simple with great style and taste doesn't have to cost upwards of half a million to be cool. On the flip side, a rust bucket can be over the top in the opposite direction.
Just my humble opinion.

Big Poppa,
Thanks for the welcome, and the heads up on where our tech is going. There's a super clean '66 F-100 shortbed in the new September '06 issue, I think you'll dig it. I shot a *** '61 Econoline pickup at Carlisle last weekend you might get a kick out of it too. I think it will be going into the November issue of CCT. In addition to a bunch of great Fords and Chevys, I just shot a couple of super cool Dodges. I can hardly wait to see what readers have to say about them.
Talk to you later,
John

Hey John,
Why not put one of those super cool Dodges on the cover? (I'll pick one out for you ;-) Then you can gauge their popularity based on newsstand sales.

Mark,
A Dodge on the cover is not out of the question. If you have a good lead on a Dodge that deserves the cover let me know. We'll go from there.
Thanks,
John

What are you planning on doing with your '50 Dodge? In other words how far from stock are you intending to go? I suggest tossing everything but the cab, bed fenders and hood. You can drop a Mopar V8 engine and tranny into just about any aftermarket chassis and end up with a pretty nice truck.
Hope this helps,
John

I really like the mix of trucks, but I am partial to the 60-66 chevy trucks. Please give us more of them although I really have seen an increase in these trucks in the magazines the last couple of years. I would also like to see more of the larger trucks such as COE's and possibly even classic large trucks such as GMC's, REO, Macks

Finally, someone has hit the nail on the head! Goofy66 said that he would like to see more 60-66 chevys shown. I couldnt agree more. I have seen about all the F-100's I can take. Although they are bad *** lets change it up a little. I think the idea of having a lead truck on the cover is very cool if it is followed by two other brand trucks that dont make the cover. So, if you have a hight dollar build chevy on the cover, then follow it up by having a nice rat rod ford inside and a clean Dodge. So that we can all get something out of the issue. Just make it interesting for us. Bust out a bad *** COE!

Motorcop has an excellent idea about featuring one brand of truck on the cover, and two different brands on the interior. I also liked his suggestion about the other trucks he would like to see. While I have a 54 F-100, I enjoy reading about the 60 Chevys, older Dodges and GMCs.
My brother-in-law is working on a 39 GMC truck (I think he said a 1-ton), which I just can't quite picture and of course he hasn't taken any pictures yet to send to me.

ABSOLUTELY, I love Trucks,All Trucks, BUT i'm tired of seeing 50 Chevrolets and 30 Fords to one Dodge. And what about Internationals and Studebakers ?

Slammed Ram,
It's funny you should mention the ratio of Fords and Chevys to the other brands and how disproportionate it seems. Unfortunately when we are out in the field at the shows that is what we see as well.
If more people build the other brands, it will be reflected in the pages of Custom Classic Trucks.
Trust me, I'm tying to keep a good mix.
Talk to you later,
John
