How are we doing in the tech department? Let us know if there is an area of tech you would like to see more of in CCT.

I dont know if this is what you mean but maybe some explainations of how didfferent things work like maybe a page or two every other magizine or something of how things work like AC and cams just stuff like that would have been cool when I was trying to figure out how stuff worked.

Mark, I take it you are asking we step it up a bit and get a little more hardcore?

I like to see the small "Did you know" or "You can do it" articals. I'm no Pro so any helpful or useful information goes a long way late at night in the shop. "The Rat"

Big Pappa,
What you are talking about is called "theory pieces." They explain how things work and compare different methods like rack & pinion steering versus recirculating-ball. I've been talking with different manufacturers about helping us with this and it looks like we are going to have a bunch of cool stuff coming up. Upcoming In the October '06 issue Miller Welders helped us with a theory piece on Plasma cutters. Look forward to Air-Conditioning, Brakes, engines, and transmissions, custom paint and body plus a whole lot more.

Both of you hit the nail on the head. Some more hardcore stuff would be sweet but also the explination would be nice just to know how stuff works and be able to know what we are using in our trucks.

Do you have any information on "how to" utilize a Chevy S-10 chasis for an early Chevy pick-up? I have a 1940 1/2 ton Chevy pick up that is very similar in size to the S-10. It has a 113" wheelbase from my measurements. I would appreciate some feed back on "how to" make this happen if possible. If feasible, it could move my project along much faster with a rolling chasis from a used parts dealer (with front-end and rear-end, brakes all in place). I remember reading an earlier article in CCT magazine about this type of a project.
Thanks, L Holden

S-10 frame you need is a Reg cab with long bed (118") or extended cab 123" inch wheelbase. The frame will have to be shortened. Any good shop can do this for you. There is a factory seam on each side of the frame near the front, it can be ground out... the frame shored to your ll3" wheelbase, and rewelded. Then make cab, box mounts, engine and tranny mounts.

Overall, the content has been good.
However, correlating the article to the splash on the cover can sometimes be difficult.
For example, on the Dec '06 and Jan '07 covers, there's splash for C-10 Frame upgrades or tips, yet searching through the articles doesn't match those lines. Are these referring to the "Totally Tubular" series?
